This is a standard Samsung dryer door switch. This switch affects both the lighting of the dryer, but also the operation of the unit running as well. Without the door switch running properly, a Samsung dryer simply will not turn on for tumbling operation. 

Please note this part is 100% compatible with Whirlpool frontload dryers as well. Most manufacturers will tell technicians that they are usable for both systems.
